# Why does my 12V air compressor keep shutting off during extended use?

This is usually caused by the built-in thermal overload protector tripping from overheating, or a failing pressure switch/wiring. Check that the unit has adequate ventilation, inspect the wiring and solenoid for loose or overheating connections, verify the pressure switch is calibrated correctly, make sure the air filter isn't clogged, and confirm you have adequate voltage supply. If it trips, allow it substantial time to cool down before restarting.
